MATR was born in 2021 from the shared vision of Verena and Michaela, two entrepreneurs committed to revolutionizing the mattress industry, focusing on environmental sustainability and unparalleled comfort for their customers.
Their journey began with a startling realization: According to the European Commission, 30 million mattresses are thrown away in Europe every year.
This sobering statistic made her curious. They wondered if there was a way to end this monumental waste crisis.
Could mattresses be designed to eliminate waste and create a world where materials are seamlessly returned to industry or nature for reuse?
When they imagined such a stunning, waste-free future, they knew they had to act - and so MATR was born.
